So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
In 1998, Lena, a five year old child of rural Chinese farmers, had a life changing accident in which she lost both arms. Due to the extensive physical damage and fear of the discovery that she was a third child, Lena was abandoned far away from her rural community. She was found by a Chinese Catholic family who cared for her and eventually adopted her into their family. After high school graduation, Lena desired to continue her schooling but was denied access into good schools due to her disabilities. Through God appointed circumstances, Lena was able to move to the United States in 2016 and attend Seattle Pacific University. Her tuition and bills were largely donated by scholarships and donations from both local and outside resources. Lena graduated from SPU with a degree in Psychology and minor in Spanish in June of 2020 with honors. It is her desire to continue her education so that she may become an Occupational Therapist. God has now moved Lena to Lubbock, Texas where she is interning at High Point Village. She will spend a year working and preparing for graduate school at Texas Tech where she is able to fulfill her dream of working with those who are physically impaired. Lena is in need of raising a monthly stipend to pay for her living needs while she works in non paying internships. Any donation would be greatly appreciated as Lena continues to follow the path that God has laid before her. Thank you for your consideration in helping Lena and especially in prayers for her as she continues in her journey with the Lord.
In September of 2005 and after 30+ years of working in the medical field (Chris a dispensing optician and Mickey a dental lab technician) God called us to serve as missionaries in Brazil. Eight years later in July of 2013, we launched out from Calvary Everett and found ourselves in Fortaleza, Brazil doing a DTS (Discipleship Training School) the introductory training required to
serve on staff with Youth with a Mission.
The outreach phase of our post DTS training was spent in the desert interior of Ceará, Brazil and Guinea Bissau, West Africa. After five years in Brazil, God began opening doors and directed us to join staff at YWAM’s Homes of Hope Ministry in Tijuana, Mexico. Mickey’s primary duties with Homes of Hope are as a builder and he’s also involved with prep and followup with local families. Chris is serving in the administration department of YWAM San Diego/Baja.
Throughout our experience of responding to God’s call we have developed a heart to serve the poor and a passion to bring transformation and hope to their lives through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are grateful for your prayers and support as we serve the people of the greater Tijuana, Ensenada area.
